Volunteer Advocates


An ODSC Volunteer Advocate (VA) will provide quality services that address the needs of Deaf victims and survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, and concerned others.


The services provided will include:

  • Emotional support

  • Peer support

  • Medical advocacy

  • Legal information and advocacy

  • Information and referrals

Interested in becoming Volunteer Advocates (VA) 


  • Commit to 60 hours of training

  • Volunteer without pay

  • Volunteer at different hours

  • Attend monthly VA meeting

  • Be on call during your scheduled time

  • Be prepared to deal with emotional stress

  • Respect confidentiality
